Automated Options Trading Bot Built On tastytrade Open API: Service Launched

Oct 14, 2026

An automated options bot built on tastytrade's Open API is now in early access, giving traders a fixed-rule, premium-selling approach to iron condors and other defined-risk structures.

Las Cruces, United States, October 14, 2026 /NewsNetwork/ -- ACondor has announced early access to an automated options trading bot built on tastytrade's Open API, a public programmatic interface the broker makes available to account holders. The company says the bot answers a question options traders frequently ask: whether tastytrade supports the kind of API access needed to build an automated trading system.

Tastytrade does provide this access. According to tastytrade's own developer site, the Open API offers full read and write access to account data, positions, balances, transaction history, real-time quotes, option chains, and order execution across equities, options, futures, and cryptocurrency, available through a REST interface with a sandbox environment for testing. The company has also published software development kits and documentation aimed at developers building on the platform.

ACondor runs a fixed-rule, premium-selling options strategy across one or more tastytrade accounts from a single dashboard. The company says the bot evaluates eligible trades on a repeating cycle during market hours, scoring candidates by credit-to-risk ratio and probability of profit, and enters a defined-risk structure, such as an iron condor, when a position clears each of its entry and risk checks.

According to ACondor, the system includes several account-level and market-wide circuit breakers, including a volatility-based halt on new entries, daily and weekly loss limits, and position-size caps, while continuing to manage any trades already open. The company said that existing positions are never closed automatically during a volatility spike, since doing so could lock in a loss rather than allow the position's own exit rules to run.

About ACondor

ACondor was founded by Robin Lilly, who has traded options for more than 40 years and built the system initially for personal use before opening it to a limited early access group. Requiring a tastytrade account, ACondor is currently in early access and operates on that platform exclusively, although the company said additional broker support is planned.
