DALLAS - Oct. 14, 2026 - PRLog -- ClearSight Therapeutics Receives U.S. Patent Notice of Allowance for Ophthalmic Formulation Technology for unmet ocular diseases

Allowance marks an intellectual property milestone for innovative biopolymeric formulations developed for ocular applications

DALLAS, TX — [Release Date] — ClearSight Therapeutics today announced receipt of a Notice of Allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for U.S. Patent Application No. 19/380,414, titled "Ophthalmic Solution Containing Quaternary Chitosan Derivatives for Treating Ocular Diseases."

The notice, mailed September 29, 2026, allows 26 claims, including composition and method claims. The allowance represents an important step toward securing U.S. patent protection for ClearSight's ophthalmic formulation technology.

"This allowance marks an important milestone for ClearSight and the science behind our ophthalmic formulations," said Patrick Smale, co-founder and CEO of ClearSight Therapeutics. "Building a strong intellectual property foundation supports our mission to develop innovative, accessible eye care solutions. We're encouraged by this progress as we continue advancing our technology."

"The formulation work focused on preserving the efficacy and key properties of quaternary chitosan in an ophthalmic solution," said co-inventor Nuria Jimenez, PhD, and co-founder & co-inventor Suchismita Acharya, PhD. "We're pleased that the examiner recognized the stability and antiviral activity data presented in the application, and we look forward to building on this scientific foundation to develop our eyedrop product to help people and expand our patent portfolio."

In its statement of reasons for allowance, the examiner cited evidence of acceptable formulation stability, preserved antiviral activity, and unexpectedly higher antiviral activity at 8- and 24-hour time points. These findings relate to evidence presented during patent examination and do not establish clinical efficacy or regulatory approval.
