Malia Jusczyk faced stage four cancer most of her life and died recently at 14. During her short life she was determined to enjoy life and live it to the fullest. A foundation has been created in her memory with a goal of helping others.
North Attleborough Center, Massachusetts Oct 14, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - "Many, many families struggle as they deal with the challenges they face when their child has cancer. We know what that is like and created a non-profit foundation to help as many as we can in memory of our daughter Malia," said her father, Glen Jusczyk.
The website provides inspiration and examples of what Malia did during her stage four cancer diagnosis.
According to the website, Malia had to face her own mortality and choose to focus on what she could control. She had to make choices and set goals with the physical limitations set on her by forces completely out of her control.
"Throughout our lives, we will all face adversity that we have to navigate," said her father. "What can we learn from how Malia lived and achieved that can apply to our lives?"
Singer and song writer Eric Jackson of Best Not Broken wrote and recorded a song in memory of Malia. The song I've Got This is a music video on YouTube at https://youtu.be/jSYtwQ-kpqU?si=z2dQELx7Yl2v8237.
"I have known the Jusczyk family and witnessed first-hand Malia's remarkable courage and determination for many years," explained Jackson. "I was blown away by the way she always wanted to find ways to help other people, and especially other kids facing adversity."
The lyrics he created for the song tell the story:
I'm not alone.
You held my hand all the way home.
Love me 'til I had to go.
"Malia was so very unselfish and kind. She was always more concerned for others than herself," said Jackson. He related this to more of the lyrics:
I'm giving back.
Take all the strength that I have.
Use it when you're feeling bad.
Jusczyk says the For Kids Sake Foundation is carrying on that legacy started by Malia, which he calls www.MaliasLegacyLovesOn.com.
