Dec 10, 2018

Wearable sensor technology brand dorsaVi is a finalist in the Wareable Tech Awards 2018, having been shortlisted for the Breakout of the Year Category.

Sydney, Australia - December 10, 2018 / / —

The wearable sensor technology brand dorsaVi has been announced as one of the finalists for Breakout of the Year in the Wareable Tech Awards for 2018. The awards highlight the very best wearable technology, recognizing both established brands and up-and-coming startups.

The awards are run by wareable.com, a top resource for news and reviews about wearable technology. The 2018 judging panel features professionals from publications such as Wired UK, CNET and Games Radar, as well as fitness tech expert Kieran Algar. Other finalists for Breakout of the Year include location alert device Lead Wearables Safer Pro, smart jewelry Motiv Ring, and smart earbuds Nuheara.

The full list of nominees includes:

Dorsavi
Leaf Wearables Safer Pro
North Focals
Motiv Ring
Modius
Nexus CrossFit
Nuheara
Epson x National Theatre smartglasses

Among the other categories featured in the awards are specific categories for products such as smartwatches and fitness trackers, as well as broader awards for fashion, health and sports tech. Breakout of the Year aims to recognize startups that are offering newer brands and products as innovative options.

dorsaVi develops a range of wearable sensors, software and algorithms, with products targeted at diverse users. ViSafe is wearable tech for the workplace, which helps to improve safety and reduce the risk of injury. ViMove is designed for clinical use, allowing those in the health and wellness industries to analyse patient movement, boost patient engagement and create personalized exercise plans. ViPerform is for the elite sports arena, helping athletes to achieve their best and improving safety by guiding athletic training and recovery programs.

A muscle sensor and a movement sensor measure two key metrics to gather lab-quality data without the need for a laboratory environment. dorsaVi's systems objectively measure movement and muscle activation at 200 frames per second. Their products have a diverse range of applications, from helping runners to find the right pair of running shoes to improving postures of people working in warehouses. They have applications across a range of industries, with software for mobile and desktop devices to provide clear presentation and analysis of the data that is generated by their sensors.

The winners of the Wareable Tech Awards will be revealed in due time, once the judging panel has come to a decision for each of the nine categories. A tenth award will be given to an overall Wearable of the Year, although Wareable has yet to reveal which devices are being considered for the award. As one of the startups recognized by the competition shortlists, dorsaVi could be in with a chance of being listed among winners who are much bigger names.
