Introduction: In order to further promote the excellent Chinese traditional culture, make more people understand the non-legacy treasures of the "Xiangshan Gang", enhance cultural self - confidence and technological self-confidence, and push forward the vivid inheritance of the "national intangible cultural heritage - the traditional construction techniques of the Xiangshan Gang", so that the traditional craft and culture can better serve the people. Following the lecture hall of "waterhead" of Suzhou Landscape Group and "Fragrant Landscape Works" of Xue Lingen, a national non-legacy successor, the open lecture of "Wood Sculpture Head" of Suzhou Landscape Group and Mr. Zhong Jinde, a master of Chinese arts and crafts, held the open course of classic annatto sculpture to the enthusiastic citizens and college teachers, students and young artisans of Xiangshan Gang.

On such hot days in July, the open class of "Wood Carving Head" of Suzhou Landscape Group, Mr. Zhong Jinde, a master of Chinese arts and crafts and a non-hereditary successor, started as scheduled. As a public welfare open class of non-legacy culture of Xiangshan Gang, it attracted more than 100 participants of "Xiangshan Talents Program", including enthusiastic citizens and university teachers and students.

In class, Master Zhong Jinde explained the culture, techniques, historical status and social influence of Ming furniture (Soviet furniture) and traditional wood carving techniques of Xiangshan Gang, and shared his own learning and creative experience.

Master Zhong Jinde said that it was particularly meaningful for the citizens concerned about traditional culture and the teachers and students of relevant majors to teach the traditional culture of Xiangshan Gang. This is the return of traditional culture, and also the embodiment of cultural self-confidence and technological self-confidence. We should further cultivate the social foundation of traditional culture and crafts so that more people, especially young people, can understand and participate in the inheritance and development of traditional culture.

Unlike machine engraving, manual engraving focuses on how to swing a knife between cubic inches like pen, knife to hand, heart to eye. In the practical class, we are very interested in hand-carved flower carvings. We listen to the master's introduction of wood carving skills, while hand-carving orchid, emerald bamboo and other wood carving patterns. The master carried out the demonstration in person, seemingly simple orchid bamboo leaf pattern, but with extremely smooth lines, which is a challenge for the new adopters.

Jiang Yanru, a graduate of Landscape Architecture major from School of Architecture, Soochow University, has long admired the wood carving art of Xiangshan Gang, although she was the first time to hold a carving knife. She said, "Master Zhong's lesson can help me understand from skins to bones, have a more intuitive understanding of the traditional skills of Xiangshan Gang, and strengthen my confidence in learning a good profession and promoting Suzhou gardens and the culture of Xiangshan Gang."

Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, Suzhou Municipal Government concerned highly about the traditional crafts and culture of the Xiangshan Gang, formulating the relevant protection system. As the main inheritance and protection unit of "world-class intangible cultural heritage - traditional construction techniques of Xiangshan Gang", Suzhou Landscape Group has specially formulated the "Xiangshan Talents Program", built a platform for training talents of traditional arts and crafts, planted the social foundation of traditional culture, and made Suzhou Gardens and Xiangshan Crafts better serve the people's beauty. The need of a good life makes traditional culture a "new fashion" of cultural consumption in the new era.
