UK Air-Fed Welding Helmets With Removable Lens & Built-In LED Work Light: Update

Oct 6, 2026

Weldtech UK now stocks the ESAB Sentinel A70 Air PRO, available as a standalone prepared-for-air flip-up helmet or as a complete package with the EPR-X1.1 PAPR unit, a respiratory protective equipment (RPE) solution, for EN 12941:2023 TH3-certified fume protection.

Carlisle, United Kingdom, October 6, 2026 /NewsNetwork/ -- Weldtech UK, a Carlisle-based welding supplier, has announced it now stocks the ESAB Sentinel A70 Air PRO, available either as a standalone prepared-for-air flip-up welding helmet or bundled with the EPR-X1.1 PAPR unit for a complete fume protection system.

More information is available at https://www.weldtech.co.uk/Welding-Helmets-Equipment/air-fed-welding-helmets/esab-sentinel-a70-air-pro-welding-helmet

The move comes as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirms there is no known safe level of exposure to welding fume, estimating that breathing metal fume at work hospitalises 40 to 50 welders each year. Weldtech UK says its new stock is designed to address these risks, offering a flip-up helmet that can be used on its own or connected to a powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR), a form of respiratory protective equipment (RPE), for protection during extended welding and grinding sessions.

The helmet's auto-darkening filter (ADF) flips up to reveal a 150 x 194mm grinding shield, letting welders grind, finish, and inspect without removing the helmet. For longer finishing sessions, the ADF detaches with two buttons; the bracket then folds flat against the shell to reduce snagging when working overhead or inside confined structures, a design consideration aimed at shipyard, structural steel, and heavy fabrication environments.

With a 123 x 75mm viewing area, the ADF uses second-generation OpTCS True Colour technology designed to reduce eye fatigue on long shifts. It switches from light to dark in 0.04 milliseconds, covers shades 5 to 13 in half-shade steps, and is rated for TIG welding from 3 amps. An internal colour display and a glove-friendly external dial give access to 20 onboard memory settings, while Bluetooth connects the helmet to ESAB's Helmet Connect app for syncing profiles and tracking arc time.

A 50-lumen LED work light runs on its own AA battery to help position the torch in dark tanks and corners, switching off automatically when the arc strikes. The helmet charges via USB-C, includes flame-resistant head and chest covers, and carries a four-year UK warranty.

The bundled package adds the EPR-X1.1 PAPR unit, which delivers EN 12941:2023 TH3-certified filtration through a two-stage filter and spark arrestor. According to Weldtech UK, the unit offers multiple airflow settings and includes low-airflow and low-battery alerts. The helmet-only option is available for welders who already own a compatible ESAB PAPR.
